I’ve renamed my blog to “High Performance Blogging” because I think it fits better. :)

I’d been using OpenID recently, but I could never remember Google’s OpenID URL. Anyway, I figured out that I can use my blog to do it with this OpenID Plugin for WordPress. It’s pretty sweet – even lets me link up other OpenID URLs that I used to use.

I guess I need to pay extra-special attention to my NZ, Aussie, and Japanese visitors. Nine seconds is unacceptible, in my opinion. Sorry guys!

So, after futzing around with a shared hosting environment that I had from my last attempt to start a blog, I decided to go whole hog.
Amazon is running pretty much everything for me now. Elastic Compute Cloud for the virtual server, Elastic Block Store for persistent data (wordpress itself, database server), S3 for storing objects that I need to access via http, and cloudfront to make http access faster locally.
Inside EC2 I am running nginx 0.5.33, php 5.2.4, xcache 1.2.1, and mysql 5.0.51.
4.989 seconds til fully loaded with the current theme. A lot of that content is not under my control, and I suppose I will resolve to work on that.

Hi. I’m Michael.
I love to make things better. It’s my all-time favorite thing.
I have been scouring the web for the latest tricks to save time for both computers and humans for as long as I have had web access.
I’ve finally decided to use this blog as a shining star to show the world what I can do. Expect continued improvements.
